Returns the magnitude of a vector in the <preferred> direction when projected on to a vector in the <basis> direction. The length of the original vector is given by the default operator for the object referenced by <magnitude>. The return value is then shifted by minus <base>, and finally normalised to be between +/- <factor>. The magnitude object is referenced and must be of type Particle. If <asymmetry> is true then the original vector is constrained to be non-negative.
